A Bear Climbed a Tree in New York
People in Albany, New York, had a surprising morning on April 21. A young black bear was seen high in a tree in a neighborhood. The bear stayed there for hours, and many people stopped to watch. It was not a zoo. It was just a city street with a very unusual visitor.
Police, animal control workers, and wildlife officials came to help. They closed nearby streets to keep people safe. Later, wildlife staff used a tranquilizer. The bear did not come down right away. First, it climbed even higher. Then workers held a net under the tree and placed soft padding below. After some time, the bear lost its grip and fell safely into the net. Officials said the bear was not hurt.
Wildlife experts said the bear was a one-year-old male. Young male bears often leave the place where they were born at this time of year. Sometimes they travel many miles and end up in unusual places, even city neighborhoods. That is probably how this bear reached Albany.
After the rescue, the bear was moved back into the wild. This story made many people smile, but it also reminded them of something important. Cities and wild animals do not always stay far apart. Sometimes nature shows up in the middle of town and climbs a tree before breakfast.
