Three Runners, One Kind Finish

2026-05-08 · 2 min read · Times Up archive

The Boston Marathon is famous for speed, strength, and long training. But this year, one of its most powerful moments was not about winning. It was about helping.

On April 20, runner Ajay Haridasse was very close to the finish line when his legs gave out. He fell and tried to get up, but he could not move well. Many runners were still passing by. Then two strangers stopped. They were Aaron Beggs from Britain and Robson De Oliveira from Brazil.

The two men lifted Haridasse and helped him move forward. Step by step, they carried and supported him for about 1,000 feet. The crowd cheered as the three runners moved together toward the finish line. It was not a fast moment, but it became a very memorable one.

Later, Beggs said he had also been feeling sick and exhausted during the race. Even so, he chose to help. Officials said Haridasse received medical care after finishing. The moment reminded many people that sports are not only about records. They are also about character.

This story became special because the runners were from different countries and did not know one another. Still, they worked together when one person needed help most. Sometimes the best finish is not first place. Sometimes it is making sure no one finishes alone.
